How to make a rhinestone template with Stoneplot

Stoneplot turns your artwork into a precise rhinestone placement map — right in your browser, with nothing to install. Here is the full process, from logo to cut file.

1. Upload your artwork

Drag a PNG, JPG, WEBP or SVG file into the studio — or simply paste it from your clipboard. High-contrast artwork with clear shapes works best: logos, lettering, line art and bold illustrations all translate beautifully into stone maps.

2. Set your real-world canvas size

Enter the finished width and height in millimetres or inches. Stoneplot works in true dimensions, so what you see is exactly what your cutter will produce. Turn on auto-ratio to keep your artwork's proportions locked.

3. Choose your stone size and spacing

Pick from standard rhinestone sizes (SS6 to SS20, roughly 2 mm to 5 mm) or enter a custom size. Adjust spacing to control density — tighter spacing gives fuller coverage, wider spacing saves stones. Try random size mode to mix several stone sizes in one design for a premium, textured look.

4. Pick colours and placement

Map your artwork to up to six stone colours, or use random colour mode to scatter a custom palette evenly across the design. Add special-shaped stones, mirror your layout with the symmetry tools, and fine-tune individual stones by hand.

5. Download your SVG cut file

When you are happy with the preview, download the SVG. Every stone is a clean vector shape, grouped by colour, sized exactly to your settings — ready for Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio, or your preferred cutting software. Sign in to save drafts to your library and re-open them any time.

6. Cut, brush, press

Cut the template from flock or stencil material, brush your hotfix rhinestones into place, lift with transfer tape, and heat-press onto your garment. Your Stoneplot map keeps every stone in position so the finished piece matches your artwork.
